GREATER WORKS THAN JESUS? 200250809

It’s a “will worship” morning! I’ll use Psalms 8:1 and 16:2. I love singing those short melodies to send the sentiment of those Psalms into the Throne Room.

My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and laid me down in 2 Kings 2. The transition from Elijah to Elisha is one of the most incredible in Scripture. I think the transition from Moses to Joshua is a close second. The Mind of the Spirit engaged the spirit of my mind on the comparisons and contrasts between Moses and Elijah.

Comparisons: Each of these men fasted forty days and nights, and appeared together on the Mt. of Transfiguration with our Lord. (These are the two mighty ones that stand by the Lord of the whole earth (Zechariah 4:14; See Mark 10:38; Matthew 17:3). Each of these three had the spirit that was upon them transferred to others. Each was an extraordinary servant of God, leading God’s people with grand manifestations of divine power. Both of these men passed from earth under unusual circumstances: Moses’ body was sought by Satan, refused to him, and hidden by God (Jude 9; Deuteronomy 34:5-7). Both of these men will appear on earth again during what we call the Tribulation (Revelation 11:3-5).

Contrasts: Moses is associated with the establishment of the Old Testament. Elijah is mysteriously connected with the establishment of the New Testament. A double portion of the “spirit” of Elijah was given to Elisha (2 Kings 2:9-12). About 400 years later, Malachi prophesied that John the Baptist would come in the spirit and power of Elijah (Malachi 3:1-6). Four hundred years after that, Jesus declared John the Baptist fulfilled the prophecy concerning Elijah (Luke 1:17; Matthew 11:12-15; 17:10-13). John the Baptist’s ministry was pivotal (Matthew 11:12).

Along the still waters, the Spirit spoke to me, saying, The Spirit of Jesus Christ has been given to you (John 7:38-39; John 14:16; 20:22; Acts 1:5-8; 2 Corinthians 1:22; Galatians 4:6). Elisha did more mighty works than Elijah, and Jesus said, “Verily, verilly, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because i go unto my Father” (John 14:12). Oh Lord, my faith is so weak! I know this, I can do nothing without You (John 15:1-6). It’s “not I but Christ” (Galatians 2:20). I sensed His pleasure!

We went into the valley! I knelt in the shadow of His Cross. I heard Him say, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). I did! I sang, “I am thine, O Lord, I have heard thy voice,” and let “my will be lost in thine” (Excerpted: Draw Me Nearer, Fanny Crosby—1875).

At the table, He anointed my head with His oil and filled my cup with His grace. We began toward the fields of service, and I looked over my shoulder to see our good friends, goodness and mercy, following close.

Praying for revival! 🙏

Going live asap.

Do you think we will see the greater works manifested during the last great revival before the Lord returns? Our faithfulness must be increased.
