Psalms 8:1 and 16:2.

My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and laid me down in Psalm 24 and Genesis 32. The Mind of the Spirit engaged the spirit of my mind in Psalm 24:1 and Genesis 32:1-2:

Psalms 24:1 ¶ The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Genesis 32:1 ¶ And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

Genesis 32:2 And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God’s host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

The Spirit pointed out to me that the Earth being the LORD’s, and the world, including all that dwells in it, is an assertion of sovereignty premised upon ownership by right of creation. When God delegates authority, He does not abandon His ownership or the privileges of sovereignty. He did indeed give to Adam (and his seed) dominion over the earth and all its resources (Genesis 1:26-27). He did not, however, give up His ownership and sovereign rule, nor did He withdraw His agency from the affairs of men.

God’s agency is illustrated in Genesis 32. God marshaled an angelic host to guard Jacob. Spiritual and physical beings operate in the same time and space. Here, you see Jacob separating his family from the house and the protection of his father-in-law, Laban. This exposed him and his family to the wrath of his brother, Esau. God opened Jacob’s eyes to see that He had deployed a host of angels to protect him (Genesis 32:1-2). Jacob called the place Mahanaim, the plural form of a word variously translated: “host,” “camp,” “company,” “drove,” and “bands.” It means “double-host.” Two camps. Two armies: one spiritual, and the other physical.

Along the still waters, I reflected on the declaration of Jesus that all power had been given to Him in Heaven and in Earth (Matthew 28:18). Christ created all principalities and powers (Colossians 1:12-18). Did He not have the prerogative of ownership and therefore the privileges of sovereignty? How is it that power (authority) would be transferred to Him if it was already His by right of creation?

Also, the testimony of the Spirit is that Jesus’ name has been lifted above every principality, power, might, dominion, and every name that is named, “not only in this world, but also in that which is to come,” with all things put under His feet on earth, being made “the head over all things to the church, hwihc is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all” (Ephesians 1:15-21; Revelation 1:5). If Christ is GOD, and GOD asserted this place over His creation from Creation (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 24:1-2), is it not true that GOD was already above the earth and its fulness, “the world, an they that dwell therein”? (Psalm 24:1-2).

The answer is that the declaration of Psalm 24:1-2 would be true of Jesus as God manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16), but to Jesus, the Last Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45), Jesus the man, the flesh part of the expression, “God manifest in the flesh,” the dominion that had been given to the first Adam was transferred to the Last Adam, the principalities and powers created by GOD (in the expression “God manifest in the flesh”—Colossians 1:15-17) was transferred to Jesus, the flesh (humanity) in the expression “God manifest in the flesh.” He is the commander of the “double host,” the two camps, the two armies, the spiritual and the physical, come together into one: Mahanaim — the place on Earth where the spiritual and physical meet.

In the Valley, the Spirit reminded me that this wonderful transfer of the Divine into the human occurred on the Cross (Colossians 2:15). And the voice of many waters spoke the call of Christ in my heart: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). If we will lay hold of the dominion and take power over the principalities we must accept our place as “crucified with Christ,” living in this flesh “by the faith of the Son of God, who loved [us], and gave himself for [us]” (Galatians 2:20).

At the table, Jesus anointed my head with His oil and filled my cup with His grace. He nodded to goodness and mercy, and they followed us into the harvest.

All I could say was, “Wow!”

Praying for revival! 🙏
