HAPPY PEOPLE LOVE THE LORD, AND ISRAEL! 20260326

I’ll use Psalm 31:1-4 for Temple worship today.

My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and laid me down in Psalm 144. The Mind of the Spirit engaged the spirit of my mind in verse 15.

Psalms 144:15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.

The word case translates the Hebrew expression כָּ֣כָה (Ka-hChah — second syllable begins with a guttural sound, like the German  ch in Bach). It identifies something as being in a certain state, circumstance, or situation. The word is translated in our KJV as such a case.

How does the Spirit describe a “happy” people? What is a “happy case”?

According to the Spirit, we are in a happy case when:

  1. Our sons will be allowed to mature properly, like a cultivated plant, strong, with promise, not wild. It suggests intentional nurture. (144:12a)
  2. Our daughters will be adorning “corner stones,” — supportive and beautiful—a foundation suitable for family stability. Like polished pillars holding up a palace. (144:12b)
  3. Our garners will be full, with a wide variety of supplies: No lack, plenty, abundance. (144:13a)
  4. Our produce will be exceedingly abundant, as illustrated in a shepherd’s context: “our sheep [will be safe to] bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets.” (144:13b)
  5. Our oxen will be strong to labour: our means of production will be blessed to produce much good. (144:14a)
  6. Thieves will not spoil our resources, our defenses will be strong, we will be safe, and the supports of culture will be secure. No external invasion will disrupt our peace. (144:14b)
  7. We will not be driven from our land, or made to be foreigners in our own country. Nor will we be required to leave our homes for war. No internal invasion will disrupt our peace. (144:14c)
  8. There will be no complaining in our streets. (144:14d)

Economic strength, national security, social stability, and public peace, with material sufficiency, external safety, internal stability, and social peace: this is how the Spirit defines the happy blessedness of the people whose God is the LORD (Psalm 144:15).

Along the still waters, I asked if there was any insight here into what disrupts our happiness.

We may derive the answer from David’s request for relief from the hand or power of “strange children”: “Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children” (Psalm 144:11a). נֵ֫כָ֥ר is a foreigner. A heathen. Someone who does not share the culture and manners of the children of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. People who speak vanity and lie (Psalm 144:11b).

Hmmm. Interesting! The Spirit reminded me of something GOD said about the children of Israel at the time of the end:

Isaiah 62:11 Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

Isaiah 62:12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

Isaiah 63:7 ¶ I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

Isaiah 63:8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

Selah!

In the valley, humbled at the foot of His Cross, He Who will come to redeem Israel said to me, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

At the table, my Shepherd anointed my head with His oil and filled my cup with His grace. We went together into the harvest, goodness and mercy following. As we walked together, He spoke to my heart by His Spirit through His word: “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God” (Psalm 146:5). Happy people have the God of Jacob (Israel) for their help. Happy people love the LORD of Jacob—they love the God of Israel. No one can truly love the God of Jacob who does not love Israel.

Praying for revival! 🙏
