Psalms 16:2, 8:1, and 123:1-2
My Shepherd met me in His green pastures foraging in Psalms 33-36. I selected from each Psalm the following:
Psalms 33:12 ¶ Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.*
Psalms 34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.**
Psalms 35:1 ¶ Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.***
The Mind of the Spirit engaged the spirit of my mind in Psalm 36:5 and 9:
Psalms 36:5 ¶ Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
Psalms 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
Along the still waters, I thought it good to set my affections on things above (Colossians 3:2 “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”), because that’s where I shall find God’s mercy. His heart is with His House, and our hearts meet His there (1 Chronicles 29:3; Matthew 6:33),
When I pondered Psalm 36:9, I thought it intriguing that in His light we shall see light. There is a “light” that is in reality great darkness (Matthew 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!) Satan is transformed into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). And with that “light” (of deceit), he blinds the minds of those who do not believe (2 Corinthians 4:4). Glory be to GOD, that His light opens our eyes to light. I thought of how Jesus, His countenance shining as the sun at full strength, stood before John. And yet John, looking into His face, could see the “light” of fire flickering in His eyes (Revelation 1:12-20).
In the valley, shadowed by His Cross, I saw the “light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4) invade that darksome valley with a flood of light. Jesus spoke: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). I did!
At the table, He anointed my head with fresh oil (Psalm 92:10) and filled my cup with His sufficient grace (2 Corinthians 12:9; see Matthew 6:34). Goodness and mercy ran to catch up as we went together into the harvest with fresh oil and a full cup.
Praying for revival! 🙏

[*The following passage is amazing (Psalm 33:13-22. GOD of the nations watches all the sons of men from Heaven, and intervenes on their behalf.]
[**Correponds to Palm 33:1-3. David’s praise is a response to GOD’s mercy in providing good and delivering from evil (Psalm 34:4-8).]
[***This sets the tone for the entire Psalm. It’s impossible for me to read this Psalm and not think of our dear President and all the troubles he endures on our behalf. Especially Psalm 35:11-28. There remains some sensitivity to the sting of these verses: Psalm 35:11 and 21. After more than fifty years, the wounds are still felt.]
