The Love of God (Frederick Lehman, 1917), and Psalm 16:2

My Shepherd found me rummaging here and there in His green pastures this morning. Spent some time thinking about His vanishing act in the story of the two on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:31). If He had eaten any food, the material eaten vanished with Him. Does this tell us something about the nature of physical things we don’t yet understand? If he were holding the hand of one of these men, would they have vanished with Him? I did not sense any particular connection with the Spirit in those ruminations. 🙂

I went into 1 Kings 8, where I read last night, and thought about the importance of the House of God then as compared to the House of God today (1 Timothy 3:15). Solomon prayed that the “strangers” would be blessed if they prayed with respect toward the House of God. Would respect for the House of God today be rewarded similarly? The Mind of the Spirit met the spirit of my mind here.

Along the still waters, I wondered about the fact that the House of God in Solomon’s day was not called the “Pillar and ground of the truth.” It was called a “House of prayer” (Isaiah 56:7; Matthew 21:13), and Solomon included the “strangers” in that blessedness of the House of God (1 Kings 8:41-43), a place where God would hear from sinners. The prayers of the stranger could be heard by God at His House. The Spirit showed me that in like manner, the “strangers” today can come to the House of God to hear God speaking to them at the Church, the pillar and ground of the Truth (1 Corinthians 14:25).

The House of God today is where the stranger can talk to God and be heard and hear from God to be saved. The Church should be where we come to hear and be heard. Pray that our church will be faithful, like a pillar, to hold the Word of God, the Scripture of Truth, before our community.

In the valley, in the shadow of His Cross, I knelt to worship. I thanked my Shepherd that He always hears the bleating of His sheep, and His sheep always hear the Shepherd’s voice. Then I heard it: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). I was heard, and I heard!

At the table, He anointed my head with His oil and filled my cup with His grace. We walked together into the Harvest, with goodness and mercy following dutifully.

Praying for revival! 🙏

Going live when I get home from my trip: ETA 2 PM.
