Psalms 8:1, 16:2, the Doxology, In My Life, Lord, Psalm 19:7-10

My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and laid me down in Psalm 19. The Mind of the Spirit stirred up the spirit of my mind in verse 14:

Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

The heavens declare His glory (v. 1), the day and the night speak knowledge (v. 2). Like every speech, or language, the voice of the heavens, the day, and the night is heard (v. 3-4).

Along the still waters, I meditated on creation’s declaration of God’s glory.

The message: The Bridegroom comes from His chamber to run a race before all heaven (v. 5-6). The Spirit, through John the Baptist, identified Jesus, our Lord, as the Bridegroom (John 3:29), and through Paul and John, the Bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:23-32; Revelation 21). Amazing, the message of the heavens declares the glory of God, and that message is the story of Christ and His bride.

The message of the heavens includes witness to the perfection of God’s Law in the work of converting the soul, making the simple wise, rejoicing the heart, enlightening the eyes (v. 7-8). It also includes testimony regarding the fear of the LORD and His judgments: His fear is clean, endures forever, and His judgments are true, “righteous altogether” (v. 9).

The declarations of God through His creation and His revelations are desirable above all good things (v. 10), and to the great truth of faith: God is, and the rewarder of all who seek Him (v. 11; Hebrews 11:6).

Without the declaration of God’s glory, none can understand his own errors (v. 12a).

The glory of GOD humbles us to pray (12b-14):  cleanse us from secret faults, keep us from presumptuous sins, let not them have dominion over us, that we might be upright, innocent from the “great transgression” (v. 13).

And so I desire that the words of my mouth, and the meditations, the very thoughts, of my heart join all creation in declaring the glory of our wonderful GOD. And I pray that my words and thoughts will be acceptable to Him Who ran and won the race for my soul: “O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer” (v. 14).

In the valley, I looked upon Him Who authored and finished our faith (Hebrews 12:1), Who, for the joy set before Him, endured the Cross, and called on me to embrace His Cross, and follow Him, to run my race with patience (Hebrews 12:1-2).

His words fit my heart perfectly, pure,  rejoicing my heart: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

At the table, He anointed my head with His oil and filled my cup with His grace. Goodness and mercy followed us into the harvest.
