Psalms 8:1 and 16:2

My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and laid me down in Ezekiel 27. The Mind of the Spirit stirred up the thoughts of the spirit of my mind in verse 17:

Ezekiel 27:17 Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.

Minnith* translates a Hebrew word constructed from a root meaning distribution, and used for the strings of musical instruments (Psalm 150:4). The idea being each string is a note that is part of a chord, and the strings represent a distribution of notes.

Minnith was across Jordan, in the land of the Amorites, the Gentiles who held the “land of Canaan” before Israel (See Genesis 15:16 where God indicated that the Amorites held the land He would give to Israel).

Jesus planted wheat in His field (Matthew 13:24-28). An enemy (Satan) came behind sowing tares among the wheat. The “field” is the world (Matthew 13:38).  Jesus represents the believers as His wheat, and the unbelievers as tares.

The Spirit described “the world” (the field) as it was in the days of Ezekiel—Tyrus was a king who called himself God (Ezekiel 27:3-5; see 28:2-6, “thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God” (28:6); see also 28:12-16). God would dethrone this king by the hand of His servant, Nebuchadnezzar (Ezekiel 29:17-20—the alternate spelling is used here: Nebuchadrezzar).

The “world” as it is in the days of JESUS the King (Revelation 1:5; Ephesians 1:21) in absentia (Mark 13:34-37; Luke 19:12-27). His Kingdom is operating in the world today through His ambassadors, who preach the Gospel of the Kingdom to all the world (Matthew 13 (see the parables of the kingdom); 2 Corinthians 5:20; Matthew 28:18-20; 24:14). Nevertheless, the whole world lieth in wickedness (1 John 5:19) and we are charged to wrestle against the world’s principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12-21). Jesus has defeated the “Prince of this world” (John 12:31; 14:30; 16:7-11), called the “god of the world” (2 Corinthians 4:4). The same “prince” who presumed to set his heart as GOD in the days of Ezekiel 27-29.

The “wheat of Minneth” is easily a metaphor for the Gentile believers in the world, but not of it (John 17).

Along the still waters, I enjoyed fellowship with the Saviour as I thought about being one of His many “singing” wheat stalks. As wind blows over a wheat field, the sight and sound evoke a soothing calm, described by some as like waves wafting over a prairie. I imagine the “voice of many waters” emanating from Christ’s wheat fields as His Spirit, like the wind (John 3), moves over them. I play a “stringed instrument” to praise him—I am among the “wheat of Minneth.” So are you!

In the valley, kneeling in the shadow of His Cross, I felt the Spirit move over me, bending the wheat in humble adoration, and the sound of my heart singing praise to His name. The voice of many waters moved saying, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

He called me to His table, where He anointed my head with His oil and filled my cup with His grace. The Spirit carried goodness and mercy along to follow us into His harvest.

Praying for revival! 🙏
