How Great Thou Art! Psalm 123:1-2

My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and laid me down in Philippians 1. The spirit of my mind entered communion with the Mind of the Spirit at verses 3 and 9:

Philippians 1:3 ¶ I thank my God upon every remembrance of you …

Philippians 1:9 ¶ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment …

Indeed, “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3). I confess that some of you are facing difficulties and challenges that I carry with a heavy heart. Yet I can say that in “every prayer of mine for you all,” the Spirit reminds me of Romans 8:28, and knowing your love for Him secures for you the promise that all things work together for good, I can present my request with joy (Philippians 1:4).

Many of you have joined me in the fellowship of the gospel “from the first day until now,” and I am “confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).

Along the still waters, I prayed with Paul, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment” (Philippians 1:9). Being exercised in much use of the Scripture, that you might have your senses exercised to discern both good and evil; that you might have now in obedience what Eve sought in rebellion. That you might “approve things that are excellent” and that you might be “sincere and without offence till the day of Christ” (Hebrews 5:14; Philippians 1:10). Not self-righteous, in honor to fleshly religion, but being filled with the fruits of righteousness which is by Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1:11).

In the valley, in the shadow of the Cross, in the Spirit, I prayed you will hear the voice in your heart I hear every morning: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

At the table, I looked for you as He anointed our heads with His oil and filled our cups with His grace. Goodness and mercy followed me, and I looked, and I saw goodness and mercy following you, as we followed Christ into His harvest. See you in church!
