Psalms 31:1-3, and 134:1-3; 135:1-3
My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and walked me over to Luke 18:1:
Luke 18:1 ¶ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.
Keep praying, Jerry! That’s the exhortation He pressed on my heart.
Along the still waters, as I thought about the deep impression this made on my heart, I marveled at the intensity of His Spirit on this matter: Keep praying. Keep talking to Me, keep seeking My face, keep at it, don’t faint, don’t give up.
My friend and fellow pastor, AJ Harold, says, “Never let up!” That’s what Jesus was saying about prayer: Never let up, never weaken in your resolve to pray, never back off, no matter what comes your way, no matter what does not go your way, whatever happens, whatever doesn’t — Never. Let. Up.
In the valley, in the shadow of His Cross, I recalled Jesus’ prayer at the end of His mission: “Father, forgive them,” and to the repentant thief, followed by “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:34, 43) — He never let up! So, did He finish praying after His death, burial, and resurrection? No! He “ever liveth to make intercession” for us (Hebrews 7:25). He lives eternally to pray forever!
He called me to take up my cross and, like Him, never let up: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).
At the table, He anointed my head with His oil and mixed into my cup the measure of grace needed for my day. And together with Christ, I went into the harvest, goodness and mercy following.
Praying for revival! 🙏
