The Doxology and Psalm 8:1 with Psalm 16:2
My Shepherd directed me into His green pastures to Jeremiah 3. The passage of particular interest to me is one I’ve visited many times and lately offered insights (see my devotion post on March 4, 2025, GOD’S EXTRAORDINARY LOVE!). The passage is Jeremiah 3:1-15.
This is a case where the Mind of the Spirit met the spirit of my mind in a thought: although Judah had turned into the ways of Israel, to whom God had “given a bill of divorce” (Jeremiah 3:8), and God complained that Judah had not turned to Him “with her whole heart, but feignedly,” that nonetheless, God extended His love to both Israel and Judah and called His “backsliding children” to turn back to Him (Jeremiah 3:14).
Along the still waters, as I reflected on this, I praised Him for His extraordinary mercy. I know that God never receives all He is due from any of us, or from any nation. We can, at the very least, be grateful to Him and humble ourselves in recognition of our sins and shortcomings: “Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers (followed the way of this world) … and ye have not obeyed my voice “ and “Turn” back to Him (Jeremiah 3:14).
In the valley, kneeling in the shadow of His cross, I confessed my sins and the sins of my nation. I pleaded for mercy, and that He would pour out upon His remnant “the spirit of grace and of supplications” (Zechariah 12:10). I thought of Ezekiel 9:4: “And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.” I sighed and cried, and begged for mercy to prevail. Jesus spoke: “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever” (John 14:16). I received the grace of His comfort. The Spirit, Who comforted me, spoke Christ’s words in my heart: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). I did!
At the table, we discussed many things, some of which I may address in the livestream. One thing He wants me to share here with you is this: Trust in His mercy, but honor His name.
He anointed my head with His oil and filled my cup with His grace. We walked together into the Harvest, goodness and mercy following close behind.
Praying for revival! 🙏
Going live as soon as the livestream can be established.
