Psalms 8:1 and 16:2; add 31:1-4

My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and met me in the 24th Psalm. The Mind of the Spirit used the passage including verses 6-10 to stir the spirit of my mind:

Psalms 24:6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

Psalms 24:7 ¶ Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Psalms 24:8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Psalms 24:9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Psalms 24:10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Jesus is this “KING OF GLORY” (Matthew 28:18; Ephesians 1:21; Revelation 1:5). The preposition of establishes the relationship between the two nouns: king and glory. Christ is the KING of glory in the sense that we might says, Jerry of Santa Maria. Christ is identified with “the GLORY of the LORD” (Exodus 16:10). Christ is KING of glory in the sense that He is the GLORIOUS KING. Christ is the KING of glory in the sense that GLORY describes Him (see Ephesians 1:17; 1 Corinthians. 2:8; James 2:1). The Hebrew reads literally: The KING the GLORY. The preposition of is supplied because this Hebrew construction requires it — two nouns put together like this indicates a relationship between them exists, and the word of signifies that.

Along the still waters, I understood that, the above notwithstanding, “this KING” and “the KING” differentiates Him from any other, and “the GLORY” specifies a particular glory is in view.

It is that glory He enjoyed with the Father before the world was (John 17:5), the “glory” He laid aside to become man (Philippians 2:5-11), that was temporarily restored to Him when He met with Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17), and that He prayed would be restored permanently when He came to the end of His earthly sojourn (John 15:7), the glory that He desired His disciples would one day “see” (John 17:24).

In the valley, I knelt in the shadow of His Cross where “this KING,” having laid aside “the GLORY,” bore our shame, and to the question, “Who is this King of glory?” — I shouted the answer:JESUS (Matthew 1:21-25).

I opened the door of my heart and He showed Himself today.

JESUS spoke: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). Gladly, I took up the Cross to follow His steps (Matthew 16:24; 1 Peter 2:2).

At the table, He anointed my head with His oil and filled mu cup to overflowing. As we walked together into the harvest, I looked over my shoulder where my faithful companions, goodness and mercy, were following close.

Praying for revival! 🙏
