Psalms 16:1-2; 31:1-3a
My Shepherd met me in His green pastures and laid me down in Luke 22, where the Mind of the Spirit engaged the spirit of my mind in verse 69:
Luke 22:69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
Jesus is the Name our Father gave to the Son of man. From Daniel 7:13-14, we understand this expression is used to identify the one to Whom would be given dominion, glory, and a kingdom, that “people, nations, and languages, should serve him,” Whose dominion is everlasting and His kingdom indestructible (Daniel 7:14). The language in Daniel 7 is Aramaic, which is very close to Hebrew. The phrase Son of man uses enosh for man. Enosh is used in Psalm 144:3 as equivalent to Adam, the common word for “man” or “mankind.” Enosh emphasizes the frailty and mortality of man. Adam indicates his connection to Adam and his role as God’s image bearer, shaped from the dust of the earth (Genesis 1:26-27). Sometimes the expression refers to the incarnate Christ, the Son of God and the Son of man. The most surprising passage is Daniel 7:13, where the expression clearly identifies a manifestation of Christ in a prophecy of His incarnation and glorification.
Daniel 7:13 uses Enosh in His connection with His glory as the inheritor of the dominion, and in 8:17, when speaking of Daniel, the Spirit uses Adam, identifying Daniel as the image bearer. The image he bore is Christ, the image into which Adam was fashioned: (See Colossians 1:15, but I recommend you ponder all of this in the context of Colossians 1:12-17)
Colossians 1:12 ¶ Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Colossians 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Along the still waters, I pondered the implications: Christ, the image of the invisible GOD, formed man from the dust into His image and likeness, became the Last Adam, and in the likeness of man (Enosh) He inherited “the power, the kingdom, and the glory” (Daniel 7:13-14; Matthew 6:13), ascended into heaven to be seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High (Hebrews 1:3: “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high”).
Then I read, Christ “hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). Again, I really encourage you to read the context of this amazing statement and ponder how it fits perfectly in the theme developed everywhere this is touched on in Scripture:
Ephesians 2:4 ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
In the valley, I remembered Jesus’ longing for the glory He missed during his trek in Enosh (John 17:5). But for our sakes, He did not cling, or covet His equality with GOD (Philippians 2:5-11). He gave up His reputation and was made Enosh. The image of the invisible GOD was made into the image of Adam. Jesus demonstrated the humility Satan lacked, thereby disqualifying him from possessing the image (Isaiah 14:14). Daniel 7:13 tells us that God transferred the kingdom, the dominion, the power, and the glory to the Son of God, made the Son of Enosh. We who are made the children of God by receiving Christ, are inheritors of the glory!
The tree of life would have allowed the image bearer, Adam, to live forever as a mortal. Through coveting His likeness, he was driven from the tree. Christ came in Enosh to die on another tree (Galatians 3:13), and made it a tree of “eternal life.” He said, “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:54; see 61-65).
Then He called to me: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23).
At the table, He anointed my head with His oil and filled my cup with His grace. Goodness and mercy followed as we went together into the harvest.
